What is the best time to see whales in Puerto Madryn?

The whale season in Puerto Madryn runs from June to December, with the best months between September and November, when southern right whales come closer to the coast. We organize boat tours from Puerto Pirámides so you can experience this unforgettable encounter up close.

What excursions can't I miss in Puerto Madryn?

We strongly recommend booking well in advance, especially during the high season (September to March), as availability is limited and last-minute reservations may result in missed tours or inconvenient transfer schedules.

What clothes should I bring for the excursions?

Depending on the season, we generally recommend:

Comfortable, warm clothing, especially in winter.
Waterproof or windbreaker jacket for boat excursions.
Closed, non-slip footwear.
Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses (even in winter).

What animals can you see besides whales and penguins?

Puerto Madryn and Península Valdés are natural paradises.
Besides whales and penguins, you can also see:

Sea lions and elephant seals.
Orcas (especially between March and April).
Dolphins, guanacos, maras, rheas, and various seabirds.

Patagonian wildlife is one of the region’s greatest attractions and varies with the seasons.

Is it necessary to rent a car to get around Puerto Madryn?

Not required. Numerous excursions depart directly from accommodations or the Madryn city center. Should you prefer greater flexibility for independent exploration, we can assist with coordinating vehicle rentals.
