Excursion to a ranch – Penguins, history and landscapes of Patagonia
Located 75 km from Puerto Madryn, at the entrance to the Golfo Nuevo, is a century-old ranch surrounded by secluded beaches and unique natural landscapes. This area is home to one of the youngest Magellanic penguin colonies in Patagonia, protected by law and monitored by the Global Penguin Society.
The experience combines nature, rural history, coastal landscapes and typical Patagonian cuisine, in a full-day tour ideal for discovering another side of the region.
Excursion route
The journey takes place across the Patagonian steppe, along gravel roads that allow you to appreciate the arid landscape and the characteristic fauna of the area.
Upon arrival at the lodge, guests are greeted with coffee, tea, and homemade treats before the activities begin.
The visit to the penguin colony is done through an interpretive walk in small groups, where it is possible to observe the penguins in their natural habitat, learn about their behavior and the conservation work that is carried out in the area.
The tour continues with a traditional Patagonian lunch, featuring spit-roasted lamb and fresh salads, served in a typical ranch barbecue area.
Then you visit the Punta Ninfas Lighthouse, a natural viewpoint on the cliffs overlooking the entrance to the Golfo Nuevo, from where, depending on the time of year, you can see whales, elephant seals or orcas.
The tour ends with a visit to the shearing shed, where you can learn about the historic facilities of the ranch and the wool production process, linked to the breeding of Merino sheep.
