Punta Cuevas Experience – Historical Walk and Cultural Heritage
Discover one of the most emblematic places in Puerto Madryn. Just a few kilometers from the city center, Punta Cuevas invites you to walk through history and nature, exploring the site where the first Welsh settlers arrived in 1865 aboard the sailing ship Mimosa, and learning about the relationship that developed between the settlers and the native peoples, especially the Tehuelche.
During this guided walk, the experience allows visitors to connect with the cultural past of the region, enjoy the coastal landscape, and relive stories of adaptation, alliances, and resilience.
Excursion itinerary
The activity begins at the agreed time in Punta Cuevas, the starting point of the excursion. From there, the experience continues with an interpretive walk along coastal trails, viewpoints, natural caves, and sand dunes, discovering the remains of the first Welsh settlement and the landscapes that accompanied the arrival of the settlers.
During the walk, the guide shares stories and explanations about the interaction between the Welsh community and the native peoples, as well as the cultural development of the region over time. The excursion invites visitors to pause, observe the coastline, and reflect on the historical legacy left by this meeting of cultures.
