Cerro Avanzado Trekking – Adventure Among Fossils and Views of Golfo Nuevo
Discover one of the most authentic experiences in the Patagonian steppe. Just a few kilometers from Puerto Madryn, Cerro Avanzado invites you to walk through millions of years of natural history, surrounded by geological formations, marine fossils, and landscapes that reflect the vastness of Patagonia.
During this guided adventure, the hike allows you to connect with nature, enjoy wide panoramic views, and discover the traces that wind and time have left on the plateau.
Excursion itinerary
The activity begins at the previously agreed time, at the starting point of the trail. From there, the guided hike follows dirt paths, ridgelines, and canyons that cross the heart of the Patagonian landscape.
Throughout the excursion, the guide interprets the natural surroundings, pointing out marine fossils, sedimentary formations, and the flora adapted to the extreme conditions of the steppe.
The ascent ends at the summit of Cerro Avanzado, an exceptional panoramic point overlooking Golfo Nuevo and the coastal profile of Península Valdés. During whale season, it is sometimes possible to spot these animals moving through the sea from above.
At the end of the trek, a regional snack platter with wine or non-alcoholic beverages is served, or alternatively a traditional Welsh tea with tea, black cake, scones, and pasta frola, to bring the experience to a close.
